Enjoyable homework for young violists by Bridget King on March 2023Great intermediate pieces for young violists learning 3rd position. Some, like no. 33, are really adventurous musically too. Many thanks to the arranger for making it possible for youngsters to play these motivating pieces on the viola. A classic for the classic student by Dietrich W Schwarz on September 2020This classical method book was written more than 100 years ago for the violin. More recently it was transformed for the viola. Thus, the price, which is worth it. The reproduction for a print-out is excellent. These etudes are still favorites with modern violin or viola teachers. The studies themselves are progressive in a way that is likely to build up a player's reading and playing skills, but are beset by the unadventurousness problem identified by Günther Schuller in relation to most horn étude books, in that the key signatures chosen rarely contain more that two sharps or flats, and many keys are simply not covered. Crisp clean edition by Cheryl * VSM MEMBER * on July 2017It's nice to have the first half of Wohlfahrt etudes here on VSM, however it would be even better to include the second half of etudes which are important for 3rd position!
