What our users say about this title? "We are performing the Fugue of this selection for our "Saxism Goes for Baroque" concert series and welcome the availability of such a good example of the period. It is imminently playable with clear notation. Although, to make the piece more accessible to less experienced players, I would suggest some double bar lines or cues as the exposition can be daunting. Also, I wonder if the first 6 bars rest for three of the instruments could be grouped together instead of appearing as 1 bar and 5 bars? Probably Sibelius not wanting to put the Allegro indication in a multi-rest! While interpretation is a personal matter, it might also be good to point out that Bach probably did not want "Quick and Lively" by suggesting a tempo/style of Allegro? Listen to the various interpretations of Kenneth Gilbert or Scott Ross on Harpsichord, or Glenn Gould or Sviatoslav Richter on piano.
For slightly more advanced players, this is a great piece to figure out breathing and dynamics. Thanks!" more info... ![]() Sleepers Awake (COMPLETE) ![]() Have a blasting peformance with this brilliant transcription of the popular Sleepers Awake by Johann Sebastian Bach for saxophone quartet. Hello,
I'm wondering if there is a possibility of an alternate alto sax substitution for the soprano sax in the Czardas gypsy airs for sax quartet? Thanks! Johanne ![]() Fabrizio Ferrari - moderator and CEO, on December 17, 2019 @8:47 am PST
Yes, definitively Johanne. I should revise that arrangement to alternate parts better. I'll keep you posted on that!
Please, let me know if you have any further questions. All the best, Johanne Ray-Hepp * VSM MEMBER * on December 18, 2019 @8:03 am PST
Thanks! Actually, they just decided it would be too hard — is there one available for the Valentine collection (or at least the Liszt Nocturne)?

You are very welcome Johanne! I was going to work on the Czardas today, but if you have any different requests, please, let me know.
In this case, you are talking about the Liszt Nocturne from our Valentine Collection: https://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/score/ValentineSaxQuartet.html What would you need about that piece? Please, tell me more. Thank you again! All the best, Johanne Ray-Hepp * VSM MEMBER * on December 18, 2019 @10:31 am PST
Sorry — the same issue — we don’t always have access to soprano saxophone, so it’s nice if there is an alto sax substitute for Sop sax. In our case, we only have one, and it’s being used by a more advanced 4tet, so we can’t take the chance that both groups can play it at solo and ensemble festival. You don’t need to do the Czardas. Sorry for the inconvenience. What platform do you use? If you don’t have time, I can convert it in Sibelius.

Not a problem at all Johanne. I am happy to help with extra parts, re-arrangements and such, at any time. We use Sibelius here, but unfortunately, we are unable to give the original files away (for copyright issues).
In any case, please, confirm the fact you'd like to simply have an alternative alto saxophone part in place of the soprano part, and I'll proceed to make it for you. Will that be for the Liszt Nocturne only or the complete Valentine Collection? I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks again ![]() All the best, Johanne Ray-Hepp * VSM MEMBER * on December 19, 2019 @9:27 am PST
I understand—just offering to help! Yes, I would like the alternate alto part for the Nocturne. But wouldn’t mind the Valentine Collection! Just more concerned about the one piece. Thank you!!
