So, do you think that it's possible to try too hard? I mean, when you're practicing, do you sometimes try too hard? Well, if you do try too hard, it could bring on both physical and psychological consequences that may hinder your progress rather than help it. Think about it. If you try too hard, if you force your body to do things beyond its limits, it can result in tension building up in your hands, arms, or shoulders. And this can lead to injuries like tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, or tennis elbow.

So ultimately, trying too hard can compromise any positive gains that you might make when you're practicing or even when you are performing.

When you stress out like this, you will most likely focus too much on every little detail. And this can lead to overthinking and anxiety.

Frustration is right around the corner.

So thinking about it, the bottom line is that trying too hard can eventually stop the joy and enjoyment out of playing.

I mean, if you're constantly stressed and frustrated when you're practicing, you may lose your motivation and interest in playing.

To steer clear of this trying too hard trap, or what I'll call the TTH syndrome, you might want to integrate some of the following suggestions into your practice sessions.

First of all, break down your practice goals into achievable milestones.

Focus on steady, incremental progress rather than chasing quick solutions.

Always strive to play in a state of relaxation and comfort by listening to what your body is saying to you. If you feel like you need to take a short break when you are practicing, just do it. It's not at all helpful to wait around and let physical strain and mental fatigue set in.

And finally, do remember that it's how you practice that's most important.

It's not just forcing things to happen.
