Violin Video Lesson: Videos for Violinists: Making an ugly sound

You know, sometimes to make a good sound...

you have to do crazy things. Well, here's one that I would show my students.

I would take their bow, hold it, and so pull....

That was seriously an ugly sound, right? I would make them pull......

all the way down. Then, I would say, can you do that by yourself? Just a little...... Then, I would say, okay, now, do the same thing, but use more pull speed....
