Hi. Welcome to livingpianos.com and virtualsheetmusic.com. I am Robert Estrin with a viewer question which is, "How long does it take to move a piano across the country?" This is a great question and there's a lot intel to this. Well, you see moving a piano is not like moving other things. You never want to engage a general purpose mover to move a grand piano. Perhaps an upright piano can be okay with a general purpose mover, but moving a grand piano requires expertise, as well as specialized equipment like a grand board and certain types of pads and straps to secure the piano properly or there could be a lot of damage to a piano if they don't know how to remove the pedals and all the intricate parts of a piano. So when moving a piano across the country you must engage one of just a very small number of companies that actually move pianos across the country.

So if you hit it right they make big loops around the country. Maybe they're just coming to your area and they're just about to go to exactly where you want your piano to be delivered. But sometimes you might catch it just at the wrong cycle and you could wait weeks, sometimes even months to move a piano. That's why here in Living Pianos we have many companies, but still not that many because there aren't a large number to begin with. And we contact all the companies and see who is going to be moving in that direction soonest, but you never want to compromise your piano. So if you really needed a piano absolutely be moved even then you think you can hire somebody to take the piano and take it right away even if it costs many thousands of dollars, but even then if they're not in your area you're out of luck. You can't really risk having a general purpose mover move your piano. So that's the long and short of it.
