Today we're going to talk about what are modes. You may have heard of modes, it may even have been explained to you in some way that seemed incomprehensible.
Hi, Robert. Thank you for this video on modes, long but useful. I have found it useful in two ways. First, it enables me to play modes more fluently by, for example, thinking of the Db major scale while starting with the C note to play the C Locrian mode. Second, it provides a theoretical framework that applies to any of the twelve major scales, i.e. start with the 4th degree of ANY major scale, then it's the Lydian mode named after that 4th degree note. Just so simple. So, again, thank you very much.
